Home Learning

As a school, it is our duty to ensure that we are still providing an education to those pupils who cannot come into school for reasons surrounding COVID-19. When considering how we can best support our pupils, we have looked at improving the quality of our existing offer and have also used feedback from the parent survey to inform our decisions.

Remote lessons will be set to run alongside the lessons that have been planned by the class teacher who is delivering these in school. Your child will have access to home learning the day after they are first off school and class teachers and the office will liaise with families affected to provide relevant log ins and materials.

We are using the Google Classroom platform to deliver home learning resources, videos and lessons and a log in will be provided in order for you to access this with your child/children. School will provide your child with a home learning exercise book in which the work should be completed and evidenced clearly with a date and title for each piece of work. Teachers may also provide textbooks to set work from which should also be completed in the exercise book, unless it is a workbook which is designed to be written in.

Upon your child’s return to school we ask they bring their home learning exercise book in with them to be marked by the teacher and this will then be returned to parents to see where further development is needed, offering an opportunity for focused discussion. It is vital that a supportive relationship is provided between school and parents in order for children to succeed and make the best progress despite the situation.

Please familiarise yourself with how to access Google Classroom using the helpful Parent Guide below.

As always, we would like to thank you for your continuous support. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office or email homelearning@prestoleetrust.org
