SEND

As an inclusive school, Prestolee Primary school offers high quality teaching to all of our children. We adapt, scaffold and support our children based on their own individual needs. Within our outstanding provision our children are valued as individuals, giving opportunities for our children to achieve excellence.

We utilise the core strength of our team and those around us, whilst working closely with parents to fully support the development of their child. As a whole school we are committed to giving all children in our care the best possible school experience and we look forward to working with you to support your child. If you have any queries about SEND, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance or call Miss McLaughlin (SENCO) on: 01204 331521

Raising SEND Support Concerns

If your concern is regarding SEND school support that your child receives in the first instance please contact our Special Educational Needs Coordinator Miss McLaughlin.

SEND Policies

Communication & Language Information

At Prestolee we are a communication-supportive environment. We understand the importance of speech, language, and communication as these are critical areas of development for children. They play a vital role throughout our lives, helping us to understand what is going on around us, communicate our basic needs and feelings, hold conversations, think and learn, develop relationships, solve problems, and more.

At Prestolee we ensure that communication and language skills are planned for and supported throughout the school day through

  • The physical environment
  • The strategies that adults use
  • The opportunities that children have to practise their communication skills.

Take a look at our parent communication and language information handout.

Prestolee Primary School celebrated 'No Pens Day!', and took part in the biggest show and tell in the UK. We raised money for Speech and Language UK.

Parent Support

At Prestolee, we work collaboratively with parents to ensure that the provision for our children with SEND is exceptional. If you would like anymore information the Department for Education has produced a guide for parents and carers of pupils with SEND, containing useful information about what you can expect from mainstream schools.

Prestolee Multi Academy Trust

Prestolee Trust is a thriving, ambitious Trust of diverse schools that focuses on training and collaboration to build a culture of excellence. We believe that creating a foundation of highly skilled, motivated teachers is the best way to nurture our children and contribute to our schools' wider communities.
