French Immersion Course

At Prestolee we believe in providing the best training and learning for our staff as we do for our pupils. We are delighted to have been awarded some funding which allows us to send some of our teachers to France for an immersion course. The programme will help staff to develop their language teaching, form partnerships with French primary schools and link with other teachers from the Bolton area. The course is an eight-day residential, based in Carcassonne, in the south of France and is funded by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme. This course will provide quality language lessons delivered by native speakers, who are experienced in teaching their mother tongue as a foreign language. Our teachers will improve their language proficiency and develop their confidence in using French, leading to better teaching to our children here at Prestolee. Teachers will have first-hand experience of the culture through a range of activities and by immersing them in local life. This will impact positively on their intercultural awareness and give them lots of ideas to share back with the staff and children here.
